Louis Roederer

Golden tones with light amber highlights, typical of the Pinot Noir. Exuberant mousse with a lively stream of bubbles. Subtle, nutty-citrus nose - scents of orange and hazelnuts punctuated by those warm, fruity notes typical of predominantly wood-aged Pinot Noir. Swirling the glass releases a flurry of richer, riper fragrances: crystallized fruit, baked apples, toast, Tarte Tatin and caramel. The palate is characteristically vintage Roederer: deep and full on first attack, showing rich, rounded vinosity but with all the refined sweetness, acidity and tight-knit texture of Pinot Noir fruit from the Verzenay vineyard. Perfectly integrated overall, with an elegant, almost feminine feel and flavours that evolve towards the sweet, palate-caressing texture of candied fruit, marzipan, toast, white chocolate and caramel.

Wine Enthusiast

A great celebration of the fine 2004 vintage, this wine reveals both generosity and a steely resolve. It has a cool elegance as well, giving it a sense of refinement, while still preserving the Roederer richness. The tight acidity holds the wine together and promises long aging.

Score: 95. —Roger Voss, December 01, 2010.

Wine Advocate

The 2004 Brut emerges from the glass with attractive layers of fruit that come together in a gorgeous expression of perfumed fruit. This silky, textured and totally finessed Champagne is another impeccable wine from Roederer. The 2004 growing season was long and yields were higher than normal, yet Roederer has achieved a wonderful balance in this wine. The 2004 Brut was made from the estate's north-facing vineyards and 40% of the wine was aged in oak. This is Lot L032125A00017, disgorged in December, 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016.

Score: 90. —Antonio Galloni, December 2009.

Wine Spectator

Crisp and green, in a grassy, verdant way. Shows plenty of lime, orange peel and apple notes, with a touch of fresh-cut grass or chive. Balanced and elegant, with subtle length. Drink now through 2018.

Score: 90. —Bruce Sanderson, November 15, 2009.
