Château La Pointe
This is an opulent, rich vintage that remains very well-balanced and harmonious. The tannins are tightly-knit and well-coated with tasty flesh. The dense, deep colour has almost black tints. The rim is a brilliant purple. The nose offers a great richness, with aromas of very ripe fruit, candied cherries, plum and mocha. In the mouth the attack is smooth and harmonious with a powerful mid-palate. The finish is long, spicy and liquoricey with a good firm balance and freshness at the end. The great aromatic persistence augurs well for a long ageing. This superb Pomerol will be ready to enjoy in 4 or 5 years thanks to its excellent balance. Its complexity and inherent elegance will also develop beautifully over 15 to 20 years of cellaring.
Rather dark and reticent, with bittersweet cocoa and licorice snap notes blocking off the core of ripe plum and boysenberry fruit, while the tarry undertow emerges more on the finish. A powerfully rendered 2009 Pomerol that will need cellaring to assimilate. Best from 2014 through 2027. 8,330 cases made.Score: 92. —James Molesworth, March 31, 2012.

This 2009 is the finest La Pointe ever! We can thank the new owners, who had the foresight to hire Hubert de Bouard as their consultant. This blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc from the relatively sandy soils of this vineyard, situated well-off the tenderloin plateau of Pomerol, has a dense purple color and oodles of plum sauce interwoven with blueberry, raspberry and black cherry notes. Full-bodied, opulent, fleshy and very sexy, it should be drunk over the next decade.Score: 90. —Robert Parker, February 2012.

Biodynamic designation is regulated by Demeter, an international certification organization. Biodynamic agriculture is based on the view of a farm as a self-contained organism. Certified organic vineyards must meet Demeter"s additional criteria for a period of one year before earning the designation "biodynamic."
Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.
